WHY THIS MATTERS NOW

We have worked hard to build our lives and our legacies.

It appears that we are not doing enough to protect them.

Every day, innocent Canadians are being targeted by increasingly sophisticated financial fraud.

In 2025, Canadians reported more than $704 million in fraud losses. In just the first six months of 2026, another $351 million was reported — with investment fraud accounting for $139.6 million of those reported losses. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre estimates that only 5–10% of fraud is reported.

Smart, careful people are being deceived every day.

Fraudsters use social engineering — gaining our trust, creating urgency and influencing us to act before we have time to stop and think.

Is your family financially prepared?

Would the people you care about know what to do if something didn't feel right? Are they aware of how serious this is?

Governments, law enforcement, financial institutions and other organizations are working hard to protect Canadians. Canada is developing a National Anti-Fraud Strategy that specifically includes helping Canadians protect themselves and act against fraud.

But they cannot do it alone.

We can all help. We can play our part as concerned citizens.

We can talk about financial safety with our families and friends.
We can look out for one another.
We can help create another layer of protection.

This resource is one way we can help.

Staying Safe in a Changing World is a Family Financial Safety Resource created to help families, friends and trusted people become more prepared to protect one another.

We all have a part to play. Are you willing to help?
